The mission of Global Communities (formerly CHF International) is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe.

Global Communities is seeking an experienced Chief of Party for 5 year, $10-15 million an USAID-funded project in Nicaragua. This activity will enable citizens to enhance local development through effective engagement and advocacy with local authorities and other relevant actors on community-driven needs utilizing pluralistic citizen participation.

The COP will be responsible for overall activity management, including leadership in attaining minimum required results, ensuring adequate communications with USAID, ensuring that the Impact Evaluation considerations are adequately followed and, identifying and mitigating risks.


  • Provides overall management of the program, including technical implementation, staff and partner oversight, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Responsible for meeting program targets, as well as ensuring the fiscal integrity of the use of program funds.
  • Ensures the establishment and maintenance of systems for project operations as well as compliance with USAID rules and regulations.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact with USAID, government counterparts, and other critical in-country stakeholders.
  • Responsible for effective written reports and oral presentations regarding the program.


  • Master’s degree in administration, economy, anthropology, political science, sociology or other related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with a range of stakeholders, including CSOs, private sector, municipal authorities, academia, and media to support activity objectives.
  • At least 8 years of prior relevant management experience, of which at least 4 years must be working with international cooperation agencies and in complex political settings.
  • Demonstrated experience with Community Driven Development (CDD) activities preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with programs that support community engagement, leadership skills and empowerment to address development issues preferred
  • Experience working with or managing programs that enhance capacity for leadership by women and youth preferred
  • Experience managing USAID programs required. Experience managing USAID contracts, preferred.
  • Prior experience implementing development programs in Central America, particularly Nicaragua, is preferred.
  • FSI Level 4/4 fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish required.
