Overview

The mission of Global Communities (formerly CHF International) is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe.

Global Communities is seeking a Deputy Chief of Party for an anticipated, USAID-funded Community Support Program in Lebanon. The purpose of this program will be to support municipalities and underserved and vulnerable communities in providing better services and enhanced economic opportunities to improve lives and reduce tensions that contribute to conflict and violence. The program will have a specific emphasis on community development.

Responsibilities

The Deputy Chief of Party will support the Chief of Party in managerial aspects of the program, and provide technical leadership for the design and implementation of program activities.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervise program staff.
  • Support the Chief of Party to develop timely, high-quality and complete work plans, performance, and financial reports.
  • Make key decisions and solve problems under tight deadlines while ensuring operational and program integrity.
  • Maintain a strong network of key partners and stakeholders to ensure that the project is represented on appropriate steering and advisory groups.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, public administration, or international development; advanced degree is desirable.
  • Experience in a senior position on USAID programs, particularly contracts, strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations
  • Minimum of eight years of progressively increasing experience managing and implementing community engagement programming in complex, fast-paced and politically sensitive contexts.
  • Minimum of three years of experience supervising staff.
  • Experience with grants that support municipal and community development.
  • Prior work in the Middle East required; Lebanon experience preferred.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required; Arabic and/or French skills preferred.
  • Lebanese nationals encouraged to apply.
