    Global Communities is an international development non-profit organization. Our mission is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe. Global Communities is seeking an experienced Chief of Party to lead the anticipated 5-year, USAID-funded Rwanda Orora Wihaze program. This program will sustainably increase the availably of, access to, and consumption of animal source foods (ASF) through the development of a profitable market.  The goal of the program is to increase income for households, increase investment in ASF value chains and to improve nutritional outcomes for children and women of childbearing age.


    The Chief of Party will provide overall leadership, technical direction, and strategic direction for the program. The COP will work with USAID Rwanda, Government of Rwanda, and other stakeholders to ensure that project goals are achieved.  The position will be based in Kigali, Rwanda with frequent travel to local field sites.


    Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Accountable for project implementation, ensuring timely and high-quality achievement of program targets and deliverables.
    • Manage program budget to meet expected results, ensuring cost-effective use of Global Communities and donor resources.
    • Using principals of adaptive management, solve challenges under tight deadlines while ensuring operational integrity and program impact.
    • Maintain a strong network of key partners and stakeholders to increase sustainable impacts beyond the life of the program. 
    • Supervise program staff and partners.


    • Minimum of a Master’s  degree in a relevant field, such as agriculture, nutrition, or international development;
    • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in Chief of Party or senior leadership position managing programs greater than $20M; familiarity with USAID policies, procedures, and reporting requirements required.
    • Minimum of five years of progressively increasing experience designing, leading and implementing community development, civic engagement/civil society, public administration, or institutional capacity development programs.
    • Experience working closely with and supporting local communities in complex and challenging environments. Experience in Rwanda is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a variety of stakeholders, including donors, local government, civil society, and private sector.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English required, secondary language skills preferred.
